US heroic Power Metal with real metal lyrics and a voice that you would know from thounds if you heard it once in your life. J.D. sings "Make me your King" in one track and no question: I would! All compositions spread a feeling of heroic honor and true emotion. It's a classic album and everyone MUST have it in his collection or it isn't complete. A metal collection without OMEN is like bavaria without beer or a woman without tits, just not the right thing. The CD version is not so hard to find so catch it if you do not already own it (would be a sacrilege my friend). As far as I know there are at least two different CD versions, the 1989 Metal Blade Rerelease also contains the essential "Nightmares" EP, value for your money. Sadly they did not print the lyrics in the booklet so the best would be you try to get the vinyl edition, too. "Warning of Danger" is the second CD by Oklahomas finest, the debut "Battle Cry" and the third one "The Curse" are also obligation to have. Sadly J.D. Kimball was fired after "The Curse" because of his alcohlic problems, a loss that OMEN could not compensate for. Then the already mentioned "Nightmares" came out and after this EP Coburn Pharr (ex-PRISONER) was engaged as their new singer. He has also a good voice, but he did not fit to the mighty OMEN. So "Escape to Nowhere" was the last album of OMEN, a good one but totally different from the past. They made a mistake to not change their name after loosing the one and only J.D.Kimball who put his (tons heavy) mark on OMEN. Without him the band was destinied to fail... As they realized it they quit the band, leaving us 4 albums and an EP, at least the first 3 are essential for EVERY fan of real metal on the earth! In this context I will not mention "Re-Opening the Gates", the comeback-cash-in product without any life. Brrrrr this is desecration of a legend - do not spend a penny on this crap! But praise the mighty epitaph in form of the first 3 records. R.I.P. OMEN, you will be remembered!
